Renate Roske-Shelton » Earth Shine - All My Stars Have Fallen [on hold]

Technology and Art.... a wondrous combination. . By now all of us probably have mega memory stacks of photos taken during and before pandemic times. . For my part, I use snapshots to record and reference potential moods, scenery, subjects etc. for my paintings. . Now years later, Google, sometimes, Iets me revisit these photos, presented to me one at a time without context. Here I get to randomly see and reimagine a previous subject matter with fresh eyes. . Today was such an occasion. I took a photo several years back: A snow-covered NB and Fundy Bay with thousands of pin point sparkles glittering upon its surface. It was such a surprising and remarkable sight to see. . This image became my creative prompt today for a little poetry and art with new experience and new context. Painting Title “Earth Shine” 16x20” acrylic on black canvas original by Renate Poem Title: “LONG-HAULING” All my stars have fallen! Devoid of fanfare into a restless bay The sky alone now grey and emptied of its treasure, Sees only frosty cold, hard rocks, and snowy waves Upon the wintry waters of this bay lightyears and flocks of history swim quietly Into a cutting sea of dark infinity All my stars have fallen! Tides of timeless flotsam expose the chaos underneath A shiny dying pin-point glitter among a sea of isolated souls. All my stars have fallen! I find them in the weirs. #RenateArt #BackBayArt #NBArt #CanadaArt #LongHaulingArt #ArtAndAPoem #StarArt #FallenStars #PandemicArt
